Ubud - Monsoon Streets

On the island of Bali, inland and away from the famous glistening coast, the town of Ubud lives and breathes its own life.

The town is well known as a tourist stop but the town doesn't revolve around its visitors. It thrives on its own. Its heart beating to its own rhythm.

This is something we experienced across the Indonesian Islands. There were many areas even on the main tourist route, that still retain their own personality strongly.

Ubud was hit by an unseasonal downpour over the few days we spent there. Although it made getting from place to place slow and you inevitably got wet no matter how many waterproof layers you wore, it was still a beautiful way to experience the streets and rice fields of this quiet yet simultaneously bustling little town.

Stay:

Eat: Hujan Locale - Prices closer to what you would pay in Australia or New Zealand for dinner, but elegant service and incredible tastes. Highly recommended.

Do: Walking the streets and rice-paddy-back-allys is the highlight here in this beautiful inland town. Put a few hours aside for getting lost and meeting locals.
